Good Evening Cyclone!

Welcome to our first virtual training night.  It will be a short one, but it will carry over until tomorrow (I hope).
OCdt Rozon has created a Fitness Challenge that I hope will get you physically active.   It can be found under “Cadet Resources” on our website: https://www.5cycloneaircadets.ca/fitness-challenge.html

Additionally, our WO2s came together to produce a video “Bring Your Pet to Cadets!”, which includes a task.  Your participation will help your Flight to reach the top.  Check it out here: https://youtu.be/963JGKZAEt8

How to Participate in: Bring Your Pet to Cadets

  • Do either Option 1 or 2
  1. Take a picture or video (25 sec. max.) of you and your pet.  Include:
    1. Your name
    2. Your pet’s name, age and breed
    3. Why your pet is the best
  2. Do not despair if you don’t have a pet!  Tell us in a message or video about your favorite animal, instead.  Include:
    1. Your name
    2. The type of animal
    3. Why this animal is the best

  • Share your picture or video with 5 Cyclone via:
  1. Facebook Message to 5 Cyclone Air Cadets
  2. Google Drive to info@5cycloneaircadets.ca
  3. Email, if it is a written message and/or picture, to info@5cycloneaircadets.ca

#StayAtHomeChallenge
This is 5 Cyclone…getting involved.

Cadets, Parents, Volunteers:

March break is done and my staff and I hope that you have all had a restful and healthy one.  Looking ahead, I'm hoping that while we are going thru this uncertain time, that we can come together to support each other and make a show of leadership as members of a dynamic and dedicated Squadron.

Safety and Welfare, Top Priority:
  • Any information from Region will be passed on to you in a timely manner.
  • Contact me straight away for all suspected or confirmed cases of COVID-19 for cadets and adult staff (CAF, CIs, volunteers) by emailing co@5cycloneaircadets.ca

Tuesday Virtual Training:
  • This week, some challenges and other engaging activities will be released on Tuesday.
  • They will be posted here to keep everything together, but they will also come out via Facebook, Instagram, and email to the parents.
  • This is a group effort!  The more you engage, the more fun it will be for the other Squadron cadets.  Top Flight challenges are coming!

#StayAtHomeChallenge
  • We know the world is facing uncertain times, but that doesn’t mean we can’t still do our part! What #StayAtHomeChallenge ideas do you have?  Email info@5cycloneaircadets.ca
  • While we practice social distancing, let’s do our part and stay engaged virtually with 5 Cyclone.
  • Have you checked in on your friends lately? Leadership doesn’t stop at parade nights. Step up to be a leader, and check in with your squadron friends virtually.

So connect with people, think about how you can make a difference, and keep an eye out for Top Flight challenges!

Refs: A. CATO 14-06 Training or Recreational Trips
B. CANFORGEN 039/20
C. 3350-Op LASER 20-01
D. CANCDTGEN 010/20

1.             In response to developments in the outbreak of a novel coronavirus (COVID-19), the Natl CJCR Sp Gp has CANCELLED ALL CADET ACTIVITIES, including local training, for three weeks effective immediately. Prior to Friday, April 03, 2020, further direction will be provided, including the potential for this cancellation to be extended.

2.             The National Cadet and Junior Canadian Rangers Support Group (Natl CJCR Sp Gp) has been directed to adopt an aggressive posture to minimize personnel risk of exposure and to prevent the CAF and cadets from becoming a transmission vector. As such, CANCDTGEN 010/20 was released on March 12, 2020 issuing amplifying direction related to the execution of Cadet and Junior Canadian Ranger (JCR) activities, and preventative measures to better protect CAF members, cadets and JCRs and their families from COVID-19.

3.             The safety and welfare of all who participate in our programs is always our top priority, as such we take very seriously our responsibility to protect cadets from any real or apparent health or safety concern.

4.             The Natl CJCR Sp Gp is collaborating with Department of National Defence and CAF as well as with other federal departments in order to maintain proper situational awareness on the COVID-19 situation in Canada and globally to synchronize interdepartmental response under the lead of Health Canada and the Public Health Agency of Canada. As a result, the situation is continuously being monitored and decisions are made on a case-by-case basis.
