Absent?  Unable to attend a class or activity?  Report your absence here and you will be marked as Absent Excused (AE).

Squadron Hours:
  1. Squadron official hours are 1830 – 2130 hrs, on Tuesday nights.
  2. If there is an urgent matter outside of these hours that requires immediate and prompt attention and cannot wait until the following Tuesday, contact the Commanding Officer, Capt Willis at rachel.willis@cadets.gc.ca.

COVID Case Reporting:  Cadets who receive a positive COVID test result must contact Capt Willis as soon as possible via email.

COVID-19 Screening:
  1. Prior to leaving home for every cadet activity, each cadet must complete this COVID-19 Screening;
    1. Cadets must complete the COVID-19 screening for every event (including but not limited to regular training, ground school, drill team, marksmanship, biathlon, trips, etc.).
  2. If the screening result is “go to school/childcare,” go to Squadron Training;
  3. Otherwise, stay home and advise Admin by filling out this form.

Regular Training
  1. Participant(s):  All Cadets
  2. OPI:  Lt Rozon
  3. Date:  Tue, 21 Feb 23
  4. Time:  1845 – 2100 hrs
  5. Location:
    1. École secondaire catholique Embrun 1276 St Jacques Rd, Embrun, ON K0A 1W0
  6. Dress: 
    1. C5 – FTUs with indoor running shoes; or
    2. Dress shirt, dark coloured pants and indoor running shoes if the cadet hasn’t yet been issued their uniform.
  7. Details:        
    1. COVID-19 Screening:
      1. Prior to leaving home, each cadet must complete this COVID-19 Screening;
      2. If the screening result is “go to school/child care”, go to Squadron Training;
      3. Otherwise, stay home and advise Admin by filling out this form.
  8. Materials: 
    1. Bring writing materials such as a pen and notebook; and
    2. Bring a water bottle.

Ground School
  1. Participant(s):  Any cadet interested in learning about aviation theory 
  2. OPI:  CI Maxwell and CI Cameron 
  3. Date:  Wed, 22 Feb 23 
  4. Time:  1830 – 2030 hrs 
  5. Location:  École secondaire catholique Embrun 1276 St Jacques Rd, Embrun, ON K0A 1W0 
  6. Dress:  Conservative civilian attire with indoor running shoes.
  7. Materials: 
    1. Writing materials such as a pen and notebook; 
    2. A snack; and  
    3. A bottle of water.

Drill Team
  1. Participant(s): All drill team members
  2. OPI:  Capt Willis
  3. Date:  Thur, 23 Feb 23
  4. Time:  1900 – 2100 hrs
  5. Location:
    1. École secondaire catholique Embrun 1276 St Jacques Rd, Embrun, ON K0A 1W0
  6. Dress:
    1. Conservative civilian attire with wedge; and
    2. A pair of indoor shoes.
  7. Materials:
    1. A snack; and
    2. A bottle of water.
  8. Details:
    1. Drill is an important part of cadet training. Drill promotes discipline, alertness, precision, pride, steadiness, and the cohesion necessary for success within a group.
    2. COVID-19 Screening:
      1. Prior to leaving home, each cadet must complete this COVID-19 Screening;
      2. If the screening result is “go to school/child care”, go to Squadron Training;
    3. Otherwise, stay home and advise Admin by filling out this form.

Biathlon

  5. Location:  P7 Larose Forest Cross-Country Ski Trail
  6. Dress:
    1. Appropriate sportswear for the weather (bring layers) and a hat.
    2. Bring a full water bottle, a small towel, all contained inside a small backpack.
 
Marksmanship Team Practice
  1. Participant(s):

  2. OPI:  Capt Willis
  3. Date:  Sat, 25 Feb 23
  4. Time:  1600 – 2100 hrs
  5. Location:
    1. Paul Emile Levesque Centre - 756 Brebeuf St, Casselman, ON K0A 1M0
  6. Dress:
    1. Conservative civilian attire;
    2. Cadets are to wear a pair of outdoor shoes to the facility and change into their indoor shoes upon arrival.
  7. Details:
    1. Marksmanship is only open to team members until after the competition on 12 March.
    2. Cadets shall bring snacks as required and dinner.
    3. COVID-19 Screening:
      1. Prior to leaving home, each cadet must complete this COVID-19 Screening;
      2. If the screening result is “go to school/child care”, go to Squadron Training;
      3. Otherwise, stay home and advise Admin by filling out this form.
    4. Cadets who are not on the marksmanship team are not permitted to attend until 25 March 23.

Staff Cadet Applications
  1. Eligibility:
    1. Cadets who have turned 16 years of age or older by 1 Jan 2023 are eligible to apply.
  2. Deadline: Applications are due NLT 2359 hrs on 21 Feb 23.
  3. To apply:
    1. To apply for a staff cadet position, fill out this form.
    2. To view the position lists, visit this page.
  4. Details:
    1. Cadets can apply for employment outside of the Regional Cadet Support Unit - Eastern (RCSU(E)), however, priority is given to cadets who reside within the destination Region. For example, cadets who are a part of RSCU - Pacific will have priority for positions at HMCS Quadra or Vernon CTCs.
    2. Staff cadets receive an advanced training allocation between $86 and $114 per day depending on their rank at CTC.

International Air Cadet Exchange (IACE)
  1. Eligibility:
    1. Cadets who wish to apply must:
      1. Be 16 years of age or older by the start of the exchange;
      2. Have completed Proficiency Level Four; and
      3. Have achieved the rank of Sgt or higher.
  2. Deadline: Applications are due NLT 2359 hrs on 21 Feb 23.
  3. To apply:
    1. Cadets who are interested in applying for the IACE must email 5aviation@cadets.gc.ca with their choice of destination (UK or USA).
  4. Details:
    1. The purpose of the IACE is to promote friendship and goodwill among Air Cadets of the participating countries, to encourage participants to develop an interest in international affairs, and to reward those Air Cadets who have rendered outstanding services to the Squadrons over a period of years.
    2. The IACE is intended only for outstanding senior Cadets who will represent Canada with distinction.

March Break Activities 
  1. Participant(s): All cadets who sign up.
    1. ​The amount of cadets is limited to one school bus load. A waiting list will be formed if necessary.
  2. OPI: Capt Willis 
  3. Date:  Sat, 18 Mar 23 
  4. Time: TBC
  5. Dress: 
    1. Conservative (appropriate) civilian attire.
      1. Please no clothing with rips or tears.
  6. Location: 
    1. Drop Off: TBC
    2. Pick Up: TBC
  7. Details: 
    1. The day will begin with a tour of the Senate and House of Commons, followed by lunch, a visit to the Aviation and Space Museum, and finishes off with laser tag and a pizza dinner. 
    2. Cadets must bring a lunch from home, but dinner will be provided.
    3. There is no cost to the cadet.
  8. Sign-up:  
    1. Cadets must sign-up in order to have accurate numbers.
      1. Cadets who sign-up and do not show-up may be prevented from attending other optional activities before having a conversation with the Commanding Officer. 
    2. Sign-up by completing this form.
      1. Sign-ups close at 2359hrs on 7 Mar 23 and will not be accepted after that time.
