Squadron Hours:
  1. Squadron official hours are 1830 – 2130 hrs, on Tuesday nights.
  2. If there is an urgent matter outside of these hours that requires immediate and prompt attention, call the Commanding Officer, Capt Willis, at 613-898-3616.

COVID Case Reporting:  Cadets who receive a positive COVID test result must contact Capt Willis as soon as possible at 613-898-3616 or via email.

COVID-19 Screening:
  1. Prior to leaving home for every Cadet activity, each Cadet must complete this COVID-19 Screening;
    1. Cadets must complete the COVID-19 screening for every event (including but not limited to regular training, ground school, drill team, marksmanship, biathlon, trips, etc.).
  2. If the screening result is “go to school/childcare,” go to Squadron Training;
  3. Otherwise, stay home and advise Admin by filling out this form.

Call for Interest:  Social Media Committee
  1. Participant(s):  Any interested Cadets
  2. OPI:  Capt Willis
  3. Details:
    1. we are looking for Cadets who are interested in developing social media posts from the Cadets’ perspective;
    2. no experience necessary, just a willingness to be creative!
    3. duties would include:
      1. taking photos,
      2. writing social media posts and submitting them to adult staff for approval, and
      3. working with Cadets of all levels to design content for Facebook and Instagram;
    4. interested Cadets can sign up here.

Regular Training
  1. Participant(s):  All Cadets

  5. Location:
    1. École secondaire catholique Embrun 1276 St Jacques Rd, Embrun, ON K0A 1W0
  6. Dress: 
    1. C5 - FTUs; or
    2. dress shirt and dark coloured pants if the Cadet hasn’t yet been issued their uniform.
  7. Details:          
    1. COVID-19 Screening:

Drill Team
  1. Participant(s):  All interested Cadets

  4. Time:  1900 – 2100 hrs
  5. Location:
    1. École secondaire catholique Embrun 1276 St Jacques Rd, Embrun, ON K0A 1W0
  6. Dress:
    1. conservative civilian attire with wedge and drill boots.
  7. Materials:
    1. a snack; and
    2. a bottle of water.
  8. Details:
    1. declare your interest by filling out this form,
    2. drill is an important part of Cadet training. Drill promotes discipline, alertness, precision, pride, steadiness, and the cohesion necessary for success within a group.

Biathlon

  5. Location: 
    1. ​Running track behind Russell High School - 982 N Russell Rd, Russell, ON K4R 1G7
  6. Dress:
    1. appropriate sportswear for the weather (bring layers), a hat, and well-fitting running shoes,
    2. bring a full water bottle, a small towel and an optional gym mat, all contained inside a small backpack.
  7. Description:
    1. Biathlon is an Olympic winter sport, which combines competitive, free-technique cross-country skiing and small-bore rifle marksmanship.  Training consists of strength and cardiovascular conditioning through static exercises, running, and other dynamic activities.

Marksmanship
  1. Participant(s):  All interested Cadets

  5. Dress:
    1. C-5 (FTUs);
    2. Cadets who do not yet have a uniform shall wear comfortable attire for lying on the floor.
  6. Location:
    1. Paul-Émile Levésque Centre, 756 Brebeuf St, Casselman, ON K0A 1M0 
  7. Details:
    1. Cadets are to wear outdoor footwear to and from the activity and change into their indoor footwear once on site;
    2. bring dinner and drinks;

Field Training Exercise (FTX)
  1. Participant(s):  Mandatory Training for All Cadets

  3. Date:  Sat, 29 Oct 22 to Sun, 30 Oct 22
  4. Time:
    1. Drop-off: 0745 hrs Saturday 29 Oct 22 at Embrun Arena
    2. Pick-up: 1700 hrs Sunday 30 Oct 22 at Embrun Arena
  5. Location:  Camp Sheldrick - 12489 Nesbitt Rd, Winchester, ON K0C 2K0
  6. Dress:
    1. C5 - Field Training Uniform (FTU); or
    2. appropriate outdoor civilian attire
  7. Transportation:
    1. transportation will depart from Embrun Arena (6 Blais St, Embrun, ON K0A 1W0) at 0800 hrs on Saturday and return at 1700 hrs on Sunday.
  8. Meals:  Meals will be provided.
  9. Details:
    1. Cadets must register for this activity NLT October 25, 2022 using this sign-up form,
    2. Medication:  Please refer to the medication section in the sign-up form,
    3. Equipment List:  Click here to access the kit list.
  10. Description:
    1. Other than having fun doing activities, this FTX will allow cadets to learn and practice basic skills when stranded in the wilderness. Such skills include first aid, building shelters based on the situation, strategies to get rescued, and much more.

Russell Legion Poppy Sales

Vars Remembrance Day Ceremony

National Online Ground School
  1. Participant(s): All cadets who wish to register for Glider and Power Pilot Training Courses in Summer 2023
  2. Deadline to Register:  Mon 14 Nov 22
  3. Details:
    1. Cadets who wish to be considered for the Power and Glider scholarship courses must complete the National Online Ground School program. The deadline to register is 14 November 2022. 
    2. To be eligible for the Glider Pilot Training Course cadets must:
      1. ​Be 16 years old by 1 Sept 2023
      2. Have completed Level 3 by 30 June 2023
      3. Have completed the ninth grade
    3. ​To be eligible for the Power Pilot Training Course, cadets must:
      1. ​Be 17 years old by 1 Sept 2023
      2. Have completed Level 4 by 30 June 2023
      3. Have completed the tenth grade​
    4. Register by filling out this form.

Effective Speaking
  1. Participant(s):  All interested Cadets

  5. Dress:
    1. conservative civilian attire

    3. your voice.
  8. Details:
    1. To provide an opportunity for Air Cadets to increase their self-confidence; and increase their ability to reason, organize and express ideas;
    2. To promote the citizenship component of local squadron training;
    3. To provide a focus at the Local, Regional/Wing, Provincial/Territorial, and National levels, to promote and encourage Air Cadets to participate in an optional activity that will provide them with an opportunity to acquire effective speaking skills through instruction and practice in a structured and competitive environment;
    4. To increase public awareness regarding the citizenship and leadership aspects of the Air Cadet program at the national, provincial and local levels;
