Squadron Hours:
  1. Squadron official hours are 1830 – 2130 hrs, on Tuesday nights.
  2. If there is an urgent matter outside of these hours that requires immediate and prompt attention, contact the Commanding Officer, Capt Willis.

COVID Case Reporting:  Cadets who receive a positive COVID test result must contact Capt Willis as soon as possible via email.


COVID-19 Screening:
  1. Prior to leaving home for every cadet activity, each cadet must complete this COVID-19 Screening;
    1. Cadets must complete the COVID-19 screening for every event (including but not limited to regular training, ground school, drill team, marksmanship, biathlon, trips, etc.).
  2. If the screening result is “go to school/childcare,” go to Squadron Training;
  3. Otherwise, stay home and advise Admin by filling out this form.

Effective Speaking
  1. Participant(s):  All interested cadets
  2. OPI:  OCdt Caswell
  3. Date:  Mon, 21 Nov 22
  4. Time:  1830 – 2000 hrs   
  5. Dress:
    1. Conservative civilian attire
  6. Location:
    1. Due to the potential CUPE strike, Effective Speaking will begin virtually via MS Teams. 
    2. Cadets who have signed up have received the meeting invitation to their Cadet365 email accounts.
      1. The MS Teams meeting can also be accessed by clicking here.
  7. Materials:
    1. Writing materials such as a pen and notebook or laptop;
    2. A bottle of water; and
    3. Your voice.
  8. Details:
    1. To provide an opportunity for Air Cadets to increase their self-confidence; and increase their ability to reason, organize and express ideas;
    2. To promote the citizenship component of local squadron training;
    3. To provide a focus at the Local, Regional/Wing, Provincial/Territorial, and National levels, to promote and encourage Air Cadets to participate in an optional activity that will provide them with an opportunity to acquire effective speaking skills through instruction and practice in a structured and competitive environment;
    4. To increase public awareness regarding the citizenship and leadership aspects of the Air Cadet program at the national, provincial and local levels.

Regular Training

    1. C5 – FTUs; or
    2. Dress shirt and dark coloured pants if the cadet hasn’t yet been issued their uniform.

Pipes & Drums - Interest Call-Out
  1. Participant(s):  Any cadet interested
  2. Description:
    1. The Cadet Music Program involves instruction in theory, performance, sight-reading and instrument maintenance.  The music program consists of six levels: Basic to Level 5.  Our Pipe & Drum Band builds esprit de corps by performing in many community events including parades and concerts.  Basic and Levels 1 and 2 teach cadets to play in the cadet corps/squadron band for parades and local activities such as Remembrance Day.  Levels 3, 4 and 5 further increase individual skills and develop the ability to teach junior cadets.

Drill Team

  4. Time:  1900 – 2100 hrs
  5. Location:

  8. Details:
    1. Drill is an important part of cadet training. Drill promotes discipline, alertness, precision, pride, steadiness, and the cohesion necessary for success within a group.

Biathlon
  1. No biathlon this week.

Marksmanship
  1. No marksmanship this week.
    1. The next marksmanship date is 03 December.
  2. Sign up for a relay no more than 14 days in advance here.
    1. Cadets who do not sign up for a relay will not be permitted to attend.

Senior Leadership Training
  1. Participants:  Level 3 and 4 cadets from all Ottawa Valley Squadrons
    1. From 5 Cyclone:
      1. FCpl An; and
      2. FCpl Maxwell.

  3. Time:  0745 – 1715 hrs
  4. Location:  Major E.J.G. Holland VC Armoury, 2100 Walkley Rd, Ottawa, ON K1G 3V3
  5. Transportation:
    1. A bus will be running as follows:
      1. 0750 hrs:  (Pick up) KC’s Country Restaurant, 984 Burton Rd, Vars ON K0A 1W1; and
      2. 1715 hrs:  (Drop-off) KC’s Country Restaurant, 984 Burton Rd, Vars ON K0A 1W1
  6. Dress:  C-5 dress (Field training uniform, FTU)
  7. Rations: 
    1. Participants are responsible to bring their own cold meals (no microwaves available); 
    2. Bring a bottle of water; and
    3. A canteen will be on site (details to follow).

Embrun Santa Parade – Food Bank Volunteers

      1. ​Cadets are looking for float #4 with the Knights of Columbus.

  7. Details:
    1. This time can be claimed as community service hours towards a cadet's Ontario Secondary School Diploma.

Embrun Santa Parade – Squadron “Float”
  1. Due to a lack of interest, we will no longer be participating in the Embrun Santa Parade with our own float.
  2. The Embrun Food Bank is still looking for 10 cadet volunteers to assist with collecting non-perishable food items along the parade route.

Russell Santa Parade
  1. Due to a lack of interest, we will no longer be participating in the Russell Santa Parade.
