Absent? Unable to attend a class or activity? Report your absence here and you will be marked as Absent Excused (AE).  
 
Squadron Hours:  
  1. Squadron official hours are 1830 - 2130hrs, on Tuesday nights.  Emails are monitored during these hours; 
  2. If there is an urgent matter, call Capt Martel at 613-791-1008. 
 
COVID Case Reporting: Cadets who receive a positive COVID test result must contact Capt Martel as soon as possible at 613-791-1008 or by
email.  
 
COVID-19 Screening:  
  1. Prior to leaving home, each cadet must complete this COVID-19 Screening; 
  2. If the screening result is “go to school/childcare,” go to Squadron Training; 
  3. Otherwise, stay home and advise Admin by filling out this form. 
 
Mask Wearing Requirements: Masks are worn during cadet activities whether they be indoors or outdoors. The only exception at this time, is when cadets are doing rigorous physical exercise.

5 Cyclone Sponsoring Committee Bursaries 
  1. Participants: Cadets attending Post-Secondary School in September 2022! 
  2. Qualification Criteria:  
    1. Bursaries are available for graduating cadets who are registered to a University or College program for the 2022/23 year. To qualify, you must: 
      1. have been in the air cadet program for a minimum of four years by the end of this training year; 
      2. be a current or former member of 5 Cyclone Squadron; 
      3. hold the rank of Flight Sergeant or higher; 
      4. have shown exemplary deportment and participation in the Squadron; 
      5. (Proof of registration will be required prior to receiving your bursary) 
  3. Application:  
    1. Submit an essay of 500-1000 words explaining how being an Air Cadet has helped you to prepare for your chosen study/career path. 
    2. Applications must be submitted to chair@5cycloneaircadets.ca no later than 24 May, 2022. 
 
Cadet Fitness Assessment (CFA) (In-person)   
  1. Participant(s): All Cadets 
  2. OPI: Capt Willis   
  3. Date: Tue, 3 May 22 
  4. Time: 1845-2100hrs 
  5. Location: École secondaire catholique Embrun, 1276 St Jacques Rd, Embrun, ON K0A 1W0 
  6. Dress:  
    1. Appropriate sports attire (i.e.: no crop-tops, etc.) 
    2. Wear a mask as always, but you may remove it when doing the CFA 
  7. Materials:   
    1. Bring writing materials such as a pen and notebook; and 
    2. Bring a water bottle (use of water fountains is not permitted). 
  8. Details: Athletic and Sportsmanship Award – results of this activity contribute to the determination of the recipient of this award 
  9. Questions: Write to your level officer by clicking on their name:

Ground School (Virtual): Stood down for the year but stay tuned for information on an in-person visit to an aerodrome this month. 
 
Drill Team (In-person)

  4. Time: 1900 - 2100hrs  
  5. Location: École secondaire catholique Embrun, 1276 St Jacques Rd, Embrun, ON K0A 1W0 
  6.  Dress:  
    1. Civilian dress;  
    2. Mandatory mask; and 
    3. Bring drill boots 
  7. Materials: Bring a water bottle (use of water fountains is not permitted) 
  
5K Walk/Run Practice (In-person)  
  1. Participant(s): All cadets 
  2. OPI: Lt Rozon 
  3. Date: Sat, 7 May 22  
  4. Time: 1000 - 1100hrs  
  5. Location: École secondaire catholique Embrun, 1276 St Jacques Rd, Embrun, ON K0A 1W0 
  6.  Dress: Conservative sportswear and shoes for walking or running 
  7. Materials: Bring a water bottle 
  8. Details: Athletic and Sportsmanship Award – results of this activity contribute to the determination of the recipient of this award 
 
CO 5k Challenge (In-person)  
  1. Participant(s): All Cadets  
  2. OPI: Lt Rozon 
  3. Dates: Sat, 28 May 22   
  4. Time: 1000-1200hrs 
  5. Location: École secondaire catholique Embrun, 1276 St Jacques Rd, Embrun, ON K0A 1W0 
  6. Details:  
    1. Sign up here. 
    2. Athletic and Sportsmanship Award – results of this activity contribute to the determination of the recipient of this award 
    3. MRE lunch will be provided after the competition. 
 
Chairperson’s Award 
  1. Applicants: Any cadet who meets the following criteria: 
    1. Be less than 19 years of age before October 31st of the year of nomination. 
    2. Be a full-time student. 
    3. Have, at the time of the application, a minimum rank of Flight Sergeant and have completed level IV Air Cadet Training. 
    4. Note that applications will be due in mid-June, if you are currently a Sgt you may be promoted to FSgt before the application deadline.   
  2. Expression of Interest:  Write to 5aviation@cadets.gc.ca if you are interested in applying for the Chairperson’s Award.   
  3. Details: The Chairman’s Award serves to reward a cadet who, by his/her actions, societal involvement and leadership, represents the values of the Air Cadet League. The recipient will demonstrate that he/she is capable of sharing his/her ideas and experiences in the community. The winner will have shown the ability to accomplish these ideas and to rally others to implement a project. The recipient will also demonstrate the necessary confidence to be an ambassador of the Air Cadet League in the community and among his/her peers. 
 
Abseiling (In-person)  
  1. Participant(s): All Cadets can sign up (there are 20 spots available) 
  2. OPI: TBD 
  3. Dates: Sat, 11 Jun 22   
  4. Time: 1300-1700 hrs 
  5. Location: Connaught Range and Primary Training Centre 
  6. Transportation: Bus from Embrun to location provided by the Sponsoring Committee.
