Squadron Hours: 
  1. Squadron official hours are 1830 - 2130 hrs, on Tuesday nights.  
  2. If you send an email outside of this period, it may take a few days to obtain a response. We appreciate your patience as our staff have full-time jobs and families.  
  3. If there is an urgent matter that needs to be addressed, do not hesitate to contact Capt Martel at 613-791-1008.

Effective Speaking (Virtual):  
  1. Participant(s): WO1 Nadeau, FCpl Novokchanov, Cpl Ghomsi, LAC Castonguay, and FSgt Walsh

  6. Notes: This is the last session for the 2021/2022 training year.

Regular Training Night  (In-person) 
  1. Participant(s): All Cadets
  2. OPI: Capt Willis 
  3. Date: Tue, 8 Mar 22
  4. Time: 1900-2100 hrs
  5. Location: 
    1. Levels 1, 3, and 5: St Thomas Aquinas Catholic High School
    2. Levels 2 and 4: Marionville Community Centre
    3. Upon arrival, parents are to park and stay in their car. 
    4. Cadets will be directed by a senior cadet to the appropriate entrance.
  6. Dress:   
    1. Field Training Uniform (FTU) with wedge and mask; or
    2. White shirt and dark coloured pants and mask if the cadet hasn’t yet been issued FTUs
  7. Details:   
    1. COVID-19 Screening: 
      1. Prior to leaving home, each cadet must complete this COVID-19 Screening;
      2. If the screening result is “go to school/child care”, go to Squadron Training;
      3. Otherwise, stay home and advise Admin by filling out this form
  8. Materials:  
    1. Bring writing materials such as a pen and notebook; and
    2. Bring a water bottle (use of water fountains is not permitted)
  9. Parents:  
    1. For reasons of contact tracing, parents must remain in their vehicles when dropping off their cadet. 
    2. If parents have questions, staff members will be available in the parking lot to answer them.

Parent Committee Meeting

  5. Location: Russell High School library.
  6. RSVP: Contact chair@5cycloneaircadets.ca to RSVP and watch your email carefully for updates for the meeting as weather and facilities can change at the last minute.
  7. Details:
    1. As a parent of a cadet, you are encouraged to attend and it would be great to meet other parents. You can get updates on what is coming up in this training year, it is a great opportunity to ask any questions that you may have and have a say in the Squadron’s Sponsoring Committee.  After the meeting, Chair MacDonald will also be offering an information session to any parents of new cadets to the program. As well, if you have any questions about being involved in the Sponsoring Committee and wanted to learn more about how you can be more involved, this is a great time to do that. The 5 Cyclone sponsoring committee is made up of parent and community volunteers interested and able to invest a small amount of time per month to ensure the success of our squadron.

Drill Team  (In-person) 
  1. Participant(s):  All interested cadets

  3. Date: Thurs, 10 Mar 22 
  4. Time: 1900 - 2100 hrs 
  5. Location: Russell High School
  6.  Dress: 
    1. Civilian dress; 
    2. Mandatory mask; and
    3. Bring drill boots
  7. Materials: Bring a water bottle (use of water fountains is not permitted)
 
Biathlon and Marksmanship:  Resume after March Break
 
First Aid Training (In-person) 
  1. Participant(s):  
  2. OPI: CI Cameron 
  3. Date: Postponed
  4. Time: 0800 - 1600 hrs 
  5. Location: Russell High School Cafeteria
  6. Details: Interested cadets must click here by 15 Mar 22 to sign up for this activity. 
 
Summer Training Opportunities – Level 3 +   
  1. Participant(s): Any interested cadets in Level 3 and above.
  2. OPI:  Capt Pascal
  3. Details: Interested cadets are to apply for consideration for summer training opportunities by completing this form no later than 18 Mar 22. Please note there are limited positions, all cadets are encouraged to apply. Details for Level 1 and 2 summer training opportunities will follow in the coming weeks.
