Supply - COVID-19 Updates

Message from the Supply Officer
**Update - 12 Jan**

Due to further restrictions being placed on the physical delivery of the program, all in-person supply functions (including curbside pick-ups and contactless home delivery) have been suspended. These restrictions are currently in place until at least the 8th of February. As we get closer to February and as our options change I will post further updates regarding resumption of Supply issues/returns and exchanges.

**Update - 9 Nov**

The squadron has been given the go ahead to resume some Supply functions.  As such, starting in late November a curb side pick-up model will be in place for the initial issue of the Field Training Uniform (FTU).  This webpage has been updated with all pertinent details including how to submit sizes, book a pick-up time and steps to take when picking up an order.

Please read through the following information in detail in order to ensure you are following the proper procedures for requesting and picking-up your new Field Training Uniform.

As always, should you have any questions or any urgent requirement not related to FTUs, please contact the Supply Officer directly using the following email address: supply@5cycloneaircadets.ca

  -  Captain Magill

How do I get my new Field Training Uniform?
The following is the process that all cadets must follow in order to receive their FTU initial issue.

  1. In-person measuring of cadets will not take place at this time.  Using the guide below, each household will have to take and record their own measurements.

    **UPDATED PROCESS**

  2. At this time all orders will be fulfilled via a "curb side pick-up" model, at the Embrun Community Centre (6 Blais Street).   A new "two step" process has been put in place to submit sizes and then book a timeslot for curb side pick-up.

  3. Once measurements have been taken, they can be submitted to Supply using the Google Form below.  When submitting sizes, you will have the option of providing new measurements or providing the sizes from your current blue uniform if they still fit. Sizes must be submitted at least five (5) days in advance of your pick-up time, to ensure adequate time for packaging.

  4. After submitting the Google Form, you will need to schedule a pick-up.  You will use the link (found below or in the "submit sizes" confirmation email) to select a pick-up time, from a group of "appointments".  Pick-up times will take place weekly on Wednesdays from 6:00PM until 8:00PM.  If there are no available timeslots for the upcoming week, you will need to choose a timeslot on a later Wednesday.

Graphic Measuring Guide
The guide that follows provides instructions, with graphics to ensure measurements are taken correctly and accurately.

Note: In order to properly take measurements, a soft measuring tape is required.
Height (inches)
1. Remove shoes.

2. Stand straight with heels together, with your back up against a wall. Make sure your head is touching the wall.

3. Take a flat and rigid tool (example: a wooden ruler is good) and place it flat on the head up against the wall. Make sure the tool is at a 90-degree angle with the wall, and make a mark on the wall with a pencil.

4. Measure in a straight line from the floor to the mark on the wall.

head (inches)
1. Measure around the widest point of the head, just above the ears.(Figure 1A & 1B.)

2. The correct measurement is the number that lines up with the edge (or beginning) of the tape (Figures 1B & 1C).
Picture
The correct measurement is the number that lines up with the edge of the tape, rounded up to the nearest ¼ inch or 0.5 cm. This person has a head measurement of 23-¾ inches.
chest (inches)
1. Lift the arms, place tape around the chest at the largest part with tape parallel to the floor, place arms down to the sides and take the measurement (Figures 3A & 3B).

Note: The measuring tape should be snug, but not too tight around the body.

Do not estimate measurements. Take this measurement over light clothing.
waist (inches)
(Use one of the two following methods)
METHOD 1 (Preferred method)
1. Take a pair of trousers that fits you well when fastened (Do not use low rise trousers).

2. Put the trousers flat on a table, waist fastened.

3. Measure the distance from one side seam the other (Figure 4). The measurement you obtain should be multiplied by two (2); this is your waist measurement.

METHOD 2
1. This measurement is taken directly against the skin, but you must wear trousers while taking it in order to determine your belt line (Do not use low rise trousers).

2. Wrap the tape around the waist at the belt line, inserting it between the trousers and skin (Figures 4B & 4C). The tape should be snug against the skin, but not tight.

3. The correct measurement is the number that lines up with the edge of the tape.

Do not estimate measurements. Do not take the measurement over your pants or belt.
foot (MILLIMETRES)
The FTU boots do not follow common Canadian sizes that you might be used to for civilian shoes.  Instead, a system called "mondopoint" is used.  Essentially the sizes are based on the length and width of the foot, in millimetres.

If you already have a comfortably fitting parade boot, take this size from the tongue of the boot.

If you don't have a comfortably fitting parade boot, or you would like to confirm the size, use the method outlined belwo:
Length
1. Place a piece of letter paper on the floor, with the short edge touching the wall

2. With your heel against the wall, place one foot on the piece of paper and stand with equal weight on both feet

3. Mark the longest point of your foot, step off the paper and measure from the edge of the paper to the mark.  This is your foot length.
Picture

Width
1. Place a piece of letter paper on the floor, with the long edge touching the wall

2. With the outside of your foot against the wall, stand on the paper with equal weight on both feet

3. Mark the widest point of your foot, step off the paper and measure from the edge of the paper to the mark.  This is your foot width.

**UPDATED - 12 Jan** Request and Pick-up Process
**Supply on "stand-down"**

Due to further restrictions being placed on the physical delivery of the program, all in-person supply functions (including curbside pick-ups and contactless home delivery) have been suspended. These restrictions are currently in place until at least the 8th of February.
Submit Sizes
To initiate the pick-up process, sizes will first need to be submitted to Supply. Using the link below, fill in the Google Form using either:

  1. The sizes from you current blue uniform, if it still fits or;
  2. Sizes that you take, using the guide above, if your uniform no longer fits.

Schedule Pick-up
Once sizes are submitted to Supply, a pick-up will need to be scheduled using the link below.  The following are steps to take when scheduling a pick-up time.

  1. At this time pick-ups will only be scheduled for Wednesday evenings between 6:00PM and 8:00PM.  Additional timeslots may become available, however be prepared to wait an extra week if the demand is higher than the current availability.
  2. Once you click the link below, you will be brought to a Google Calendar that should look like the next image.  If you have a message that says "there are no appointment slots available in the time range shown", skip to the following week to see what's available.
  3. When you get to a date with availabilities, you will see what looks like a number of overlapping grey boxes that say "curb" each one represents a five minute timeslot for picking up the FTUs. Simply click the box on the time that you'd like and click save on the window that pops up.  As long as you are logged into a Google account, that will automatically add that appointment to your calendar as well as the Supply Officer's
  4. Pick-up times are scheduled five minutes apart, ensure you show up on time to keep a smooth flow of traffic.

Note: All measurements must be taken before proceeding to book an appointment
Pick-up Process
Once sizes have been submitted, and a timeslot has been selected for pick-up, the following process will be followed for the curb side pick-up:

  1. Upon arriving on site at the Embrun Community Centre, park your vehicle in a space identified with a "Cadets Canada" flag.  No members of the household are to leave their vehicle.

  2. There will be two parking spaces identified for curb side pick-up.  If both spots are occupied when you arrive, wait in a nearby spot for the previous pick-up to finish.  DO NOT block vehicle traffic if waiting for a pick-up spot to become available.

  3. Once parked, roll down a window to communicate with the Supply staff and open the vehicle's trunk so the items can be placed in the car with no contact.
