A Brief History of 5 Cyclone

2019
5 Squadron takes part in its first inter-provincial trip which took the cadets on a C130J hercules flight to the maritimes to visit various military installations and museums. This year also marks 5 Squadron's fourth change of command as Captain Mason Magill turns command over to Captain Christine Martel. 
2017
5 Squadron makes its second appearance at the Provincial Drill Competition, this time taking first place in the Walsh category
2016
5 Squadron makes its first appearance at the Provincial Drill Competition, taking second place.  This year also marks 5 Squadron's third change of command as Captain André Deblois turns command over to Captain Mason Magill

​​5 Squadron marks it's 10th Anniversary
2013
5 Squadron makes its first appearance at the National Cadet Marksmanship Competition, held in St-Catherines, Ontario with the team finishing 3rd Overall.  This year also marks 5 Squadron's second change of command as Captain Nathan James turns command over to Captain André Deblois
​2012
5 Squadron makes its first appearance at the National Cadet Biathlon Competition, held in Martock, Nova Scotia and the last original cadet from Cyclone's first year, WO2 Elizabeth Polson, retires from the Squadron.
​2010
5 Squadron marks it's 5th anniversary and participates in a March Break trip to Washington, D.C.
​2009
Captain Scott Barker turns over command of 5 Cyclone Squadron to Captain Nathan James during the squadron's first change of command ceremony.
2008
5 Squadron take part in a March Break trip to France with 632 Phoenix Squadron.  Later that year the Commandant of the Royal Military College, Brigadier General Tom Lawson, CD, is the Reviewing Officer for 5 Squadron's third Annual Ceremonial Review.
​2007
Marc Garneau is the Guest of Honour for 5 Squadron's second annual Mess Dinner.
2005
The Honourable Gordon O'Connor, Minister of National Defense is the Reviewing Officer for 5 Squadron's first Annual Ceremonial Review.
2005
5 Squadron is founded in Russell, ON by founding Commanding Officer Captain Scott Barker and the Squadron's first Sponsor Committee chair Mr. Richard Brook's.  WO1 Tim Brook's is appointment the squadron's first Cadet Commander.
