Uniforms for School Ceremonies

1. Participant(s):  Cadets who wish to wear their uniform to school
2. Deadline:  12:00 am on Tuesday, 7 Nov (when Monday becomes Tuesday).
3. Details:
   1. Cadets must email Capt Willis at [email protected] with the following information:
      1. Name, Rank, and Cadet365 email;
      2. When the ceremony is (date and time);
      3. Where the ceremony is (include the address);
      4. What will the cadet be doing;
      5. Why is it important to the cadet to wear their uniform.
   2. These requests will be compiled into one email and send to the CO of RCSU for approval. No requests will be sent on if received after 12:00am on 7 November.
   3. Due the number of cadets and staff under the CO RCSU’s leadership, it is very possible that not every cadets will receive authorization to wear their uniform. Cadets who do not receive authorization are not permitted to wear their uniforms.

Squadron Mascot Contest

1. Participant(s):  Open to all Cadets
2. OPI:  Capt Willis
3. Deadline:  Tues, 7 Nov 23
4. Details:
   1. It has come to my attention that we are in need of a squadron mascot! Cadets who attended the Spring FTX or the CAP this summer might remember 832’s mascot, Sgt Stu, or the CAP mascot Maple. We are one of few units in the Ottawa area without a mascot to represent us! 706 has a stuffed snowy owl, 632 has a stuffed Phoenix. What will 5 have?
5. Rules:
   1. Mascot must be air cadets/Canadian Armed Forces/Cyclone related.
   2. One submission per cadet.
   3. Must be practical. We must be able to create the mascot and bring to inter-squadron events and squadron activities.

Russell Remembrance Day Ceremony

1. Participant(s):  Mandatory for all cadets.

5. Dress: C1 - Ceremonial with a poppy
6. Location: Russell Legion - 24 Legion Ln, Russell, ON K4R 1C8
7. Details:
   1. Cadets who do not yet have a uniform shall wear a dress shirt and dark coloured pants.  
   2. This time can be claimed as community service hours towards a cadet's Ontario Secondary School Diploma.

Embrun Remembrance Day Ceremony

   1. Cadets who do not yet have a uniform shall wear a dress shirt and dark coloured pants.  
   2. This time can be claimed as community service hours towards a cadet's Ontario Secondary School Diploma.

Embrun Christmas Parade

1. Participant(s):  Cadets who sign-up.
2. OPI:  OCdt Caswell
3. Date:  Sat, 25 Nov 23
4. Time:  TBC – Usually evening (~1800--1930 hrs)
5. Dress:  C5 – FTU with issued parka, tuque or holiday hat, and gloves.
6. Location:
   1. Drop-Off: TBC – Usually near Mini Mall Storage - 130 Bay St, Embrun, ON K0A 1W1
   2. Pick-Up: Embrun Arena - 6 Blais St, Embrun, ON K0A 1W0
7. Details:
   1. Please join us in spreading holiday cheer to the residents of Embrun!
   2. Cadets will be part of a marching contingent behind our float, handing out candy canes, and spreading the holiday spirit.
      1. The Embrun Food Bank also requires volunteers to help collect canned goods along the parade route.
   3. Cadets may wear an appropriate holiday hat in lieu of their issued tuque (i.e.: Santa hat, elf hat, reindeer antlers, etc.).
   4. This time can be claimed as community service hours towards a cadet's Ontario Secondary School Diploma.

   1. Please join us in spreading holiday cheer to the residents of Russell!

   1. To provide an opportunity for Air Cadets to increase their self-confidence; and increase their ability to reason, organize and express ideas;
   2. To promote the citizenship component of local squadron training;
   3. To provide a focus at the Local, Regional/Wing, Provincial/Territorial, and National levels, to promote and encourage Air Cadets to participate in an optional activity that will provide them with an opportunity to acquire effective speaking skills through instruction and practice in a structured and competitive environment;
   4. To increase public awareness regarding the citizenship and leadership aspects of the Air Cadet program at the national, provincial and local levels.
