Squadron Hours:

1.    Squadron official hours are 1830-2130hrs, on Tuesday nights.

2.    If there is an urgent matter outside of these hours that requires immediate and prompt attention, call the Commanding Officer, Capt Willis, at 613-898-3616.

COVID Case Reporting: Cadets who receive a positive COVID test result must contact Capt Willis as soon as possible at 613-898-3616 or via email.

COVID-19 Screening:

1.    Prior to leaving home for every cadet activity, each cadet must complete this COVID-19 Screening;

a.    Cadets must complete the COVID-19 screening for every event (including but not limited to regular training, ground school, drill team, marksmanship, biathlon, trips, etc.).

2.    If the screening result is “go to school/childcare,” go to Squadron Training;

3.    Otherwise, stay home and advise Admin by filling out this form.

Call for Interest: Social Media Committee

1.    Participant(s): Any interested cadets

2.    OPI: Capt Willis

3.    Details:

a.    We are looking for cadets who are interested in developing social media posts from the cadets’ perspective.

b.    No experience necessary, just a willingness to be creative!

c.    Duties would include:

                                          i.    Taking photos,

                                        ii.    Writing social media posts and submitting them to adult staff for approval, and

                                       iii.    Working with cadets of all levels to design content for Facebook and Instagram.

Drill Team

a.    Drill is an important part of cadet training. Drill promotes discipline, alertness, precision, pride, steadiness, and the cohesion necessary for success within a group.

Biathlon

7.    Description:

a.    Biathlon is an Olympic winter sport, which combines competitive, free-technique cross-country skiing and small-bore rifle marksmanship.  Training consists of strength and cardiovascular conditioning through static exercises, running, and other dynamic activities.

Marksmanship

a.    Cadets are to wear outdoor footwear to and from the activity and change into their indoor footwear once on site.

Cadet Correspondent Workshop – French ONLY

1.    Participant(s):Any interested cadets in Level 3 and up

a.    C-5 (FTUs)

6.    Location:MS Teams

7.    Details:

a.    An English session will be held later in the training year. This session will only be held in French.

b.    This training is available to any cadet in Level 3 and up.

c.    Cadet Correspondents (CCs) are the voice of the Cadet Program. They represent the Program from its best point of view: the cadets themselves. Their creativity drives the Cadet story forward. They are leaders and liaisons between the public and the Cadet Program.

d.    What cadets can expect to learn:

                                          i.    The role of Public Affairs in the Cadet Program;

                                        ii.    Acting as a spokesperson for the Cadet Program;

                                       iii.    Drafting articles for traditional media;

                                       iv.    Effectively use social media to drive engagement;

                                        v.    Create compelling photos and videos; and

                                       vi.    Interviewing techniques.

Field Training Exercise (FTX)

5.    Location: Camp Sheldrick - 12489 Nesbitt Rd, Winchester, ON K0C 2K0

6.    Dress:

a.    C5 - Field Training Uniform (FTU); or

b.    Appropriate outdoor civilian attire

7.    Transportation:

a.    Transportation will depart from Embrun Arena (6 Blais St, Embrun, ON K0A 1W0) at 8:00 AM on Saturday and return at 5:00 PM on Sunday.

8.    Meals:

a.    Meals will be provided.

9.    Details:

10. Description:

a.    Other than having fun doing activities, this FTX will allow cadets to learn and practice basic skills when stranded in the wilderness. Such skills include first aid, building shelters based on the situation, strategies to get rescued, and much more.

Level 5 Workshops

a.    As per PO 513 of the Level 5 program, outlined in the Level 5 QSP, all Level 5 cadets must attend 4 workshops over the span of two years.

b.    Workshops for 2022 will be held virtually via MS Teams.

Russell Legion Poppy Sales

Effective Speaking

a.    To provide an opportunity for Air Cadets to increase their self-confidence; and increase their ability to reason, organize and express ideas;

b.    To promote the citizenship component of local squadron training;

c.    To provide a focus at the Local, Regional/Wing, Provincial/Territorial, and National levels, to promote and encourage Air Cadets to participate in an optional activity that will provide them with an opportunity to acquire effective speaking skills through instruction and practice in a structured and competitive environment;

d.    To increase public awareness regarding the citizenship and leadership aspects of the Air Cadet program at the national, provincial and local levels.
