Squadron Hours:

1. Squadron official hours are 1830 – 2130 hrs, on Tuesday nights.
2. If there is an urgent matter outside of these hours that requires immediate and prompt attention and cannot wait until the following Tuesday, the Commanding Officer, Captain Rachel Willis, can be reached at [email protected].
   1. Email is regularly monitored.

COVID Case Reporting:  Cadets who receive a positive COVID test result must contact Capt Willis as soon as possible via email.


COVID-19 Screening:

1. Prior to leaving home for every cadet activity, each cadet must complete this COVID-19 Screening;
   1. Cadets must complete the COVID-19 screening for every event (including but not limited to regular training, ground school, drill team, marksmanship, biathlon, trips, etc.).
2. If the screening result is “go to school/childcare,” go to Squadron Training;
3. Otherwise, stay home and advise Admin by filling out this form.

Winter Break Standdown

1. 5 Cyclone Squadron will be stood down for the Winter Break from 21 Dec to 9 Jan inclusive.
2. In order to allow the adult staff a chance to unwind, email accounts will not be regularly monitored.
3. If there is an urgent matter that requires immediate and prompt attention and cannot wait until 9 Jan, contact the Commanding Officer, Capt Willis, at [email protected].
   
   

Pipes & Drums - Interest Call-Out

1. Participant(s):  Any cadet interested
2. Description:
   1. The Cadet Music Program involves instruction in theory, performance, sight-reading and instrument maintenance.  The music program consists of six levels: Basic to Level 5.  Our Pipe & Drum Band builds esprit de corps by performing in many community events including parades and concerts.  Basic and Levels 1 and 2 teach cadets to play in the cadet corps/squadron band for parades and local activities such as Remembrance Day.  Levels 3, 4 and 5 further increase individual skills and develop the ability to teach junior cadets.

Effective Speaking

8. Details:
   1. To provide an opportunity for Air Cadets to increase their self-confidence; and increase their ability to reason, organize and express ideas;
   2. To promote the citizenship component of local squadron training;
   3. To provide a focus at the Local, Regional/Wing, Provincial/Territorial, and National levels, to promote and encourage Air Cadets to participate in an optional activity that will provide them with an opportunity to acquire effective speaking skills through instruction and practice in a structured and competitive environment;
   4. To increase public awareness regarding the citizenship and leadership aspects of the Air Cadet program at the national, provincial and local levels.

Semi-Annual Parade

   1. C1A with running shoes; or
   2. Dress shirt and dark coloured pants and running shoes if the cadet has not yet been issued their uniform.
7. Details:

   2. Semi-Annual Parade
      1. Timings for the Training Night are as follows:
         1. Arrival:  1845-1900 hrs
         2. Parade Practice:  1900-1940 hrs
         3. Break:  1940-1955 hrs
         4. Semi Annual Parade:  2000-2100 hrs
      2. Parents are welcome to attend the parade.  Please be seated by 1955 hrs.

Ground School

   1. Drill is an important part of cadet training. Drill promotes discipline, alertness, precision, pride, steadiness, and the cohesion necessary for success within a group.

Marksmanship

   1. C-5 (FTUs);
   2. Cadets who do not yet have a uniform shall wear comfortable attire for lying on the floor.

6. Details:
   1. Cadets are to wear outdoor footwear to and from the activity and change into their indoor footwear once on site.
7. Sign-up:
   1. Cadets must sign-up for a 1-hour relay to attend.
      1. Cadets who do not book a relay may not attend.

Holiday Themed Sports Night
