Squadron Hours: 

1. Squadron’s official hours are 1830--2100 hrs, on Tuesday nights. 

1. If there is an urgent matter outside of these hours that requires immediate and prompt attention and cannot wait until the following Tuesday, call the squadron at 613-704-9284 and leave a message. Your call will be returned within 24 hours.

Duty Staff for 12 March  

1. As per the March Routine Orders, there is no staff on duty due to March Break.

1. Mess Dinner & Dance 
   1. Participant(s): All cadets who sign-up by 22 Mar 24 at 2359 hrs. 
   2. OPI: Ms. Verdon & Capt Willis 
   3. Date: Sat, 6 Apr 24 
   4. Time: 1800 – 2230 hrs 
   5. Location: Chesterville Legion - 167 Chesterville Queen St, Chesterville, ON K0C 1H0 
   6. Dress: C2 
      1. In C2, cadets swap their blue dress shirt for a white dress shirt and wear a black bowtie instead of their tie. Cadets may also wear their issued dress shirt and tie in lieu of purchasing a white dress shirt and bowtie.
      2. Cadets who do not have full C2 (including boots) shall wear civilian equivalent; gown, suit, tuxedo or equivalent.
   7. Details: 
      1. The Cadet Mess dinner is designed to provide an experience in the proud military tradition of a mess dinner. It will provide an opportunity for participants of the cadet program to meet in a social and entertaining dinner environment, while enjoying a dinner and DJ at the Chesterville Legion. 
      2. For some cadets this will be your first Cadet Mess dinner since joining the squadron. You will be treated to an experience in a partially traditional format of a Mess Dinner hosted by the Squadron Sponsoring Committee that supports the 5 Cyclone Squadron. 
      3. We will be asking for a $10/cadet deposit for the event by March 22, 2024. Your deposit will be returned to you when you attend the event. Please send payment via eTransfer to [email protected].

Survey - French Language Squadron 

1. There is a project to open a new French squadron in the Ottawa region. 
2. To gather information on the response and viability of this project Cadets, Parents, SSC and Staff across Ottawa are each asked to fill out this short survey. 
   1. Questions and Answers are available in both official languages. 
   2. The survey takes less than 5 minutes and is anonymous. 

 
Regular Training 

1. There is no training on Tues, 12 March due to March Break. Have a safe and enjoyable break! 

 
Staff Cadet Applications 

1. Participant(s): All cadets who wish to apply for a staff cadet position during Summer 2024 
2. Deadline: Tues, 12 March 24 at 2359 hrs 
3. Details & Eligibility: 
   1. To be eligible you must be 16 years of age before the first day of work and must not reach your 19th birthday before the last day of work. You will also have completed Level 4 training by the end of the current training year. 
   2. Cadets can apply to staff at the following Cadet Training Centres (CTCs): 
      1. St. Jean CFTC (St Jean, QC); 
      2. HMCS Ontario CTC (Kingston, ON); 
      3. Blackdown CTC (Borden, ON); 
      4. Trenton CTC (Trenton, ON); 
      5. Valcartier CTC (Valcartier, QC); 
      6. Rocky Mountain CTC (Bighorn, AB); 
      7. National Cadet Advisory Council (Trenton, ON); and 
      8. Technology and Digital Learning Centre (virtual).  
   3. Cadets can view the Eastern Region 2024 Staff Cadet Information Booklet for an idea of what positions are available.

Ground School

1. There is no Ground School on Wed, 13 March due to March Break.
2. Cadets applying for GPTC should keep an eye on their email for details about the interview process.

Summer Training Applications 

1. Participant(s): All cadets in Level 2, 3, 4, and 5 
   1. There is no summer training available to cadets currently in Level 1.  
2. Deadline: Fri, 22 March 24 at 2359 hrs  
3. Details: 
   1. 5 Cyclone has been allocated 7 spots for summer training this training year.  
   2. Cadets in Levels 2, 3, 4, and 5 may apply for Summer Training courses by filling out the form below.
